For Zayn Malik, trying to find just the right words for his latest hypnotic song, “Fingers,” was not an easy feat, but against all odds, he managed to do the impossible. Low synths and an appealing mid-tempo sound make this a worthwhile track to check out.
The song is about a one-sided relationship that left the singer feeling heartbroken. In a low, sultry tone with a clean drum beat, he attempts to address his feelings of heartbreak while looking at his phone. “Cause I’m fucked and I want ya, I can’t even text ya,” he cries painfully into the microphone. “Cause my fingers ain’t working, by my heart is/If you wanna let me know where you hiding/I could come and love you.”
You can almost tell by just the raw, agonizing lyrics alone that the song is heart-wrenching and bittersweet. No other song puts heartbreak into perspective quite like “Fingers” does. It is a must-listen for all Zayn fans.
“Fingers” is the latest single from Zayn’s second album. It is unknown when MCA Records will issue a release date or a title for the new album. His first album, Mind of Mine, dropped in 2016.
This is not the only single Zayn has released so far this year. Other songs including “Dusk Till Dawn,” featuring Sia, “Too Much” featuring Timbaland, “Let Me,” “Entertainer,” and “Sour Diesel” have also made their rounds in the music world along with a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which was released in July.
