Taylor Swift To Open 2018 American Music Awards

This year’s American Music Awards will be hosted by the charming Tracee Ellis Ross known from the cast of Blackish for the second time. Taylor Swift is no newcomer to the American Music Awards. It’s no surprise that she will be opening the show with her song “I Did Something Bad”.


She’s won 19 awards, and this year is up for Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Favorite Pop Album and Female Pop Artist of the Year. “I Did Something Bad” contains call-outs to many celebrities such as Kanye West. West received no nominations despite having dropped his album “Ye” this year.


Pop idol Taylor will be running the show, but rap music is ruling with both Cardi B and Drake nominated for 8 awards. The late XXXTention also received two nominations. Cardi will perform with Bad Bunny and J Balvin. BTS is making history as the first Korean act to be nominated and are making waves in the Favorite Social artist category.


Panic! at the Disco will be playing “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a tribute to Queen. There will also be a tribute to Aretha Franklin, a music legend who passed away this year. Mariah Carey will be performing at the AMAs for the first time in ten years. She has a comeback album coming out soon and will performing a song off it called “With You”.


Halsey, Benny Blanco and Khalid will be on stage together performing their hit song “Eastside”. Missy Elliot and Ciara are back with their song “Level Up”. Imagine Dragons, Carrie Underwood and Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla $ign are also performing. The American Music Awards will be October 9th 2018 at 7 pm CDT.
