As Fleetwood Mac’s split from the touring circuit continues, Stevie Nicks will keep busy via a solo tour during the closing months of 2016. The trek will be in support of her 2014 album, “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault,” which was released only a month or two ahead of the launching of Fleetwood Mac’s On With the Show Tour, so leaving her unable to venture out until now.
“I merely woke up one morning and said I have two years before Fleetwood Mac comes knocking on my door [for another tour],” she said. “Why would I need to sit around and do nothing?”
“24 Karat Gold” was the eighth solo release for Stevie Nicks, who has been building a discography of her own since “Bella Donna” in 1981. It debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 in Oct. 2014, and comprised the piano-heavy second single, “Lady.”
Though she’ll be outside on the road solo, the Stevie Nicks Tour won’t be without some notable support, as The Pretenders are tabbed as the opening performance, fast making this one of the most anticipated concert events of the autumn.
The Pretenders haven’t toured in years, and hadn’t had a release since 2008’s “Break Up the Concrete,” but in conjunction with the announcement, the group revealed that a brand new album, “Alone,” but will release on Oct. 21, just days before the tour launching.
Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix will put on the tour’s first show on Oct. 25, and from there, other cities on tap to host contain Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Seattle, and many more.
