Reggie Bush Finds New Home In Buffalo

Reggie Bush

Reggie Bush has had an unusual career.

It hasn’t been a bad one by any means, though expectations were through the roof after he won a Heisman Trophy for USC (sorry, after looking at the official records that apparently never happened) and was the second pick of the 2006 NFL draft. He has 9,001 total yards from scrimmage, 57 total touchdowns and a Super Bowl ring. He got to date Kim Kardashian.

Buffalo Bills Reggie Bush
He formally joined the Buffalo Bills on Monday, supplying the Bills a much-needed backup to LeSean McCoy.

For Bush, it’s his fourth team in five seasons. He’s been with the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers and now the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo might not have been his first choice, unless his mind-set has changed since he was unimpressed with the city in 2009.

After Bush said he thought Ryan’s Jets were trying to hurt him, also Bills and Bush coach Rex Ryan had a verbal spat in 2012. He didn’t appear to remember that when talking about Ryan on Monday afternoon.

“I’ve consistently been a fan of Rex,” Bush said, according to the Bills’ Twitter feed. “Now getting a chance to play for him will be very cool.”
It’s funny how a lack of choices can make folks forget old grudges.

Bush, coming off a season-ending knee injury, stayed unsigned all off-season. The Bills had backup running back Karlos Williams appeared to offseason exercises out of shape and then Williams got suspended for four games. If he desired to play with an 11th season Bush probably needed the Bills, and the Bills needed their tailback depth difficulty to be solved by Bush. Bush may also return punts.

Bush has turned in a good, solid NFL career that’s produced a few fun highlights. Who knows, perhaps he’ll be playing your favorite NFL team.
