Pink released “What About Us” the first single from her forth-coming album, Beautiful Trauma. The LP, out October 13th, is going to be her first record in five years following the release of her 2012’s The Truth About Love.
“What About Us” builds from a rare ballad into a good emotional dance floor anthem packed with pounding percussion and a gorgeous variety of synths. Pink unleashes a commanding expressive performance throughout, belting, “What about us/ What about all the broken ever afters?/ What about us/ What about all the plans that ended in disaster?”
“I could not be more excited right now,” Pink wrote on Instagram, where she announced her forthcoming seventh album and also the new single, together with sharing the record cover. “My single comes out today, ‘What About Us,’ and my new album, Beautiful Trauma, comes out October 13th.”
“I’m certifiably, insanely proud of this album,” she continued. “It’s been a while and I’m grateful for all the years we’ve had. Looking forward to the next chapter with you.”
In May, Pink was a surprise guest throughout Billy Joel’s live concert at Los Angeles’ Dodgers Stadium, where she sang “New York State Of Mind” with Joel before singing her very own “Try.” In March, Pink teamed with Norwegian producers Stargate for their track “Waterfall,” that also features Sia, and she also appeared on Kenny Chesney’s Cosmic Hallelujah album. The pair sang the duet, “Setting the World on Fire.”
