The world understands Michael Phelps can swim, but can he lip sync? His skills were tested Sunday night when the Olympic record holder and other members of the U.S. team appeared on a live episode of Lip Sync Battle. Onstage, Phelps channeled his inner Slim Shady for an ad-hoc performance of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.”
Phelps had his gold-medal winning game face on. He swung to the opening of “Lose Yourself,” parodying the beginning of 8 Mile the movie, which starred Eminem. Phelps hid his mouth with the microphone for the whole performance, implying that lip syncing is not his strong suit.
What Phelps lacked in lyrical knowledge, he made up for in charm that was onstage. Brazen mic fall and his choreographed dance moves helped him accomplish success in the All-Star Live Championship. Phelps’ performed against U.S. Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles and Aly Raisman, who teamed up with actress Olivia Munn for a rousing performance of Sia’s “Cheap Thrills.”
