Emimem is involved in another battle rap-related film, Bodied. But rather than starring in it just like his semi-autobiographical 2002 film 8 Mile, he is helping as the producer.
Based on a script published by rap battle champ Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen, Bodied is directed by music video director Paul Kahn, who has created music videos for Eminem, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, U2 and many others. The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in Sept.

In the trailer, several voiceovers declare “Battle rap is not boxing, it’s a street fight,” “words are weapons” and “we battle rappers, we battle each other and disrespect each other in the ring as rappers.” Additionally there is a voiceover that states “how sensitive the climate is towards racism and appropriation.” It closes having a tension-filled rap battle between characters Megaton and also MC Goggles.
Described on the film festival’s website “A satirical exploration of the world’s most artistically brutal sport – battle rapping,” the film has been said to explore race relations along with stars Debra Wilson, Charlamagne tha God, Anthony Michael Hall and Calum Worthy. As Billboard points out, the film features several battle artists, including Hollow Da Don, Dizaster, Dumbfoundead and Loaded Lux.
Last month, Eminem appeared in HBO’s The Defiant Ones documentary, which chronicled the career of Dre and Jimmy Iovine.
