Depeche Mode unveiled an immersive and romantic 360-degree video to “Going Backwards,” which promos from their brand new album, Spirit.
The Timothy Saccenti-directed clip finds the band performing a live rendition of this ominous cut in a very simple studio space with each member spread out in a circle. Regardless of the separation, the video’s interactive component and its collection of smart visual effects – from twisted laser lights to hovering photos of the band – produce a feeling of cohesion as Depeche Mode perform the slow-burning song.
Depeche Mode also shared a non-360 variant of this “Going Backwards” video, which captures precisely the identical performance but with more conventional camerawork.
Depeche Mode released Spirit in March, marking their first album since 2013’s Delta Machine. The band will embark on a enormous world tour in support of this album this summer having a North American leg scheduled to start August 23rd at Salt Lake City, Utah and wrap up October 27th at Edmonton, Canada.
