The Black Eyed Peas are back with their newest visual from their latest LP, Masters of the Sun Vol. 1. and it has been worth the wait.
Released October 26, 2018 through Interscope Records this LP is the first release since parting ways with Fergie. Though the group is officially sans one member, the track features Canadian artist Esthero, proving the musical group still appreciates the elements of a sultry female vocal. This collaborative aesthetic works all-the-more with their newer throwback sound.
In the video, for the track “4Ever” the Black Eyed Peas continue their journey emitting a relaxed feel while going for a night drive. The musicians are seen cruising forward, literally, yet returning to their hip-hop roots.
Still, the group doesn’t shy away from collaborating with fellow contemporary artists such as Nas featured on “Back 2 Hiphop”, and Nicole Scherzinger featured on “Wings”.
The visual and audio for “4Ever” work together to bring us back to the days when hip-hop was the BEP dominant voice. The video’s motion is slower and laid back and the colors reminisce of analogue. The songs’ production kicks us back to the days when music was more simple, less slick and left room for listeners to focus on the message.
Music fans who miss hip-hop’s more authentic days will be pleased.
The tour for Masters of the Sun Vol. 1 has come to an end but keep and eye out for the group making the rounds at festivals such as Rock in Rio 2019 in October.
