Country music’s former power couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert declared their divorce one year ago today.
In the year that has followed, Shelton has managed the split quite different than Lambert. Lambert’s ex-husband has been doing the reverse while she has been laying low since the split.
Shelton released his first single after the split in March, which was followed by the release of a whole album. Meanwhile Lambert just released her first tune since the split, titled “Vice,” on Monday.
While Lambert rarely shares glances of her new relationship with vocalist Anderson East on social media, Shelton has made his relationship with girlfriend Gwen Stefani amazingly public.
“I do not know if one managed [the divorce] better than the other but they are managing it the exact opposite of their marriage in the final years,” pop culture pro Cate Meighan told FOX411 Country. “Miranda was the one that was blunt about [their union] and insisted all was great while Blake was always off doing his own thing instead of really saying a whole lot…now it is the opposite.”
Lambert’s newfound shyness might be because she’s embarrassed by her preceding outspokenness, Meighan explained.
“She has to feel a little embarrassed because after all of that it did not work out. Perhaps this is more of an all-natural path for her…maybe this is how they both are when they are happy.”
Shelton’s post-split music also could not be more distinct.
“I do not desire to use the word ‘heartless’ but [Shelton’s] a guy and there is a little more abruptness [in his songs],” Meighan said. “It appears like [Lambert has] actually gone through her emotional things since the divorce and his feels a little more like an ode to a thing that is over.”
Whitaker considers it is too early to tell how fans will react to Lambert’s new song. Meanwhile, they have had to dissect the meaning behind Shelton’s lyrics.
“Fans had a lot of reactions to that with some people thinking it was him trying to be nasty [and] getting back at her.”
Some fans, however, were ready to praise Lambert’s new tune as soon as it hit the web.
One fan remarked on Lambert’s new song on YouTube, “I honor the fact she kept her private life personal during her divorce! What occurred between Blake and her is their own business. No one knows what went on in their personal life.”
Another commenter repeated, “Frankly I do not even care if she cheated on him. Ugh!”
Gwen Stefani is among the most iconic musical artists of all time. Of course the media will be following the couple everywhere.
Some fans, on the other hand, are sick of hearing about Shelton’s separation and Lambert.
“Back and forth about who did what is uproarious. It’s finished world, move on and value their career individually.”
