John Mayer

John Mayer is set for a busy 2017. The Search for Everything, his new record, dropped in 2017. He’s set to headline “The Search for Everything Tour” in addition to a summer tour with Dead and Company. Mayer, for lack of a better term, is back.

The Search for Everything

The Search for Everything is Mayer’s first album since 2013’s Paradise Valley. This break from music helped Mayer refocus after a rugged past and reset. After getting himself tangled in strong political statements, scandals, and blurry artistic individuality, Mayer appears to have righted himself and his future.

The album will reflect about his split with Katy Perry. Mayer hasn’t dated much in the last five years, moving to Montana to clear his head. Therefore, The Search for Everything is about this relationship – currently seeking the greatest truth on how to live and love even if it doesn’t always work out.

Mayer is doing something interesting with The Search for Everything, as it’s broken up into 2 sections to be released, or “waves.” Each wave features four songs, so the record isn’t released all at the same time. Two waves are released to date. It’s a unique approach to promote his music over a period of time instead of one album release.
