While a recent interview indicated that Aerosmith was open to performing with a fresh frontman, a statement released Friday (May 20) shut down that idea completely. “There is zero truth to a story circulating that Aerosmith is searching for a fresh singer,” the statement reads.
In an interview with Metal-Rules.com, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford was inquired whether the group would ever contemplate going the AC/DC route and touring with another vocalist, he said, “Absolutely, we have considered it, but whether it’ll happen I don’t know. I think it’d be fantastic.”

“Any gossip out there about us looking for another vocalist is completely untrue.”
Whitford echoed similar sentiments in a November interview with Billboard, saying the group felt a bit “left” by Tyler’s solo plans. “It is unfortunate. We kind of feel a little bit abandoned by him. I guess he seems to think his solo career is going to go great guns, and he doesn’t seem to realize that — in my opinion — his fans around the world need to view him in the circumstance of Aerosmith and don’t really care for whatever he believes he is gonna do. I do not know if he gets that but, hey, that is what he desires to do. I can not put a gun to his head. It is just quite unsatisfactory.”
